Our Class Poem!
For the boys and girls in school
It started at meeting
and went on until leaving
And all the things they did were cool!
They took old water bottles and filled with with things
Something were wet and dry and sparkly!
then they shook them around
till new things were found
Then they put them in Discovery!
On the blue rug, they sang and they danced
and put out the blocks, tiles, and a truck.
At snack they drank tea
and learned about the sea
Then went outside to play in the muck! (Note: please send extra clothes for this reason!!)
See, preschool is fun!
Come on everyone!!
Find all these new things to do!
We'll build things to borrow
and see tomorrow
What new things we are going to do!

Gardening!
Did you know pea seeds were peas? But they are not green! The kids thought that was so funny! Here is what we planted:
Parsley, lettuce, spinach, peas, peppers, parsley

If anyone has some extra pots, soil or seeds, we would love to plant them for you!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
We are Green-a-licious Today!
Today we had a lot going on! At the tables today we experimented with making rainbows in shaving cream, we made yummy, rainbow Fruit loop bracelets,
and tried out Q-tips to mix yellow and blue to make green.
We also got a special note from the leprechaun that told us he hid 17 gold coins on our playground! We had so much fun finding all 17 coins we hid them again and again! Some of the children buried them and others hid them under things.
I wonder if the Leprechaun will find them? We left a Leprechaun trap outside to see if we could trap him!
Parent Council Rep Needed
While I have enjoyed my time as Willow Street parent rep (in no small part because Kara and the other teachers have done such a wonderful job with our kids in the classroom and Michelle Rooks does all the hard work with the blog), I was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking my place sometime in the upcoming months. At this point, most of our conversations are focused on the transition to the new site in Rafter J, and I think it might make more sense to have a parent on the council whose child will be attending CLC next year. (Becca will be starting kindergarten.)
The meetings are the third Friday of each month from 12-1 at the Town Council chambers. It has been a great opportunity to be involved in CLC on a more administrative level. Please let me know if you are interested. There is a meeting this Friday (3.19) if you want to come check it out.
Thanks,
Nicole

Happy Birthday Ms. Kara!
Today we celebrated Ms. Kara’s birthday by decorating the cupcakes we made yesterday for her and singing her Happy Birthday!
We also gave her a class picture in a frame that we painted ourselves. It was such a great time.
We also read the book Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss and made our own green eggs!
They tasted just like normal eggs…..delicious!
The kids were having lots of fun outside pretending that the shovels were guitars and playing rock band! They were singing all different songs like "Bob the Builder" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."
There was also lots of pretend play and running around.
Have a Happy Weekend!

POPCORN FUN!!!
This morning the magic bag contained popcorn! We talked about how popcorn grows on a corn stalk like the sweet corn we eat.
We popped the corn out of the popper all over the sheet, collected it and had some popcorn art fun!
We colored popcorn with paint in bags while dancing to the Popcorn song. We also glued white popcorn on paper to paint later. We even had popcorn for our AM snack!
It was a Pop-o-licious morning!
Some other activities today included paper bag collage art,
BINGO,
and all of the other fun centers in our classroom.
The BIG SNOW HILL
was lots of fun in the sun! Sliding down, climbing up and around, as well as exploring the objects we find as the snow hill melts.
We hope everyone has a great weekend!

February Recap:
February was a busy month! We had 2 awesome Valentine's Day parties. The kids really enjoyed passing out the Valentine's! They worked as a team to help each other pass out the cards and find each others bags. Thank you for helping your children with their Valentine's! Also, a BIG thank you for all the support with food, drink, and supplies to make each party successful.
Book orders have been mailed. Thank you to everyone who ordered. Look for another one in March!
All students need a change of clothes! Accidents happen! Please make sure your child has a compete change of clothes each day they come to school. Also, please check their cubbies end bags each night for soiled clothes in a plastic bag. Unfortunately, we have no extra clothies.
Outdoor fun: The outside environment is a wonderful place for dramatic play. The children love our game of Dragons, Pirates, and Wizards. Some of the children become dragons, others are pirates, and still others are wizards. We steal our "treasure" back and forth. The dragons have special names that coincide with their special powers! (Snuggle Dragon, Rainbow Dragon, Cowboy Dragon, etc.) The teachers are fully engaged in this play, which provides us a real life opportunity to model positive play.
Stories: Throughout the year, we have been writing stories! They are published in a variety of ways, and the classroom books usually hang in the hallway. Recently I brought a laptop to school to record their stories more effectively. Watch for more on the blog!!
Our Dinosaurs ~ 4 little raptors
Owen, Nico, Austin, and Travis were rolling around with a tunnel piece. They noticed the snow stuck onto the sides of the piece...creating a "dinosaur". The little "raptors" tried to get on top of the "dinosaur" but it kept rolling away from them. They soon figured out that if they rolled the "dinosaur" into the tree, it wouldn't roll away. They could then get on top of it. The little "raptors" took turns crawling on top of their dinosaur and "eating the meat"!! They growled as they ate the "meat" just like little raptors would!
As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, or celebrations!
